1. Introduction
I grew up in Tunisia, moved to the US for college and studied Computer Science and Business at the University of Rochester, then worked in 16 countries in Africa with Seedstars for one year, then moved back home to start a Fintech company Flouci where I am currently the CTO.
I am motivated by the problem we’re trying to solve, and the complexity of human nature. A lot of my personal decisions are inspired by a personal “Why”, and I enjoy learning about other people’s “Why”.
Hobbies include: Running, making short videos I call Kafteji News
Favorite quote: “If not us, who? And if not now, when?”
2. Communication Style
- Style:
- I like to be direct in communicating information, and that might feel too direct sometimes, but it’s for the sake of efficiency.
- I sometimes talk about one area (example: current task) but can go on about the next 3 or 4 tasks, as well as why we are doing it and how it fits into the whole vision. If you feel lost as a result, please stop me and let me know to rephrase.
- Preferred Communication Methods:
- Phone calls are reserved to emergencies. I prefer WhatsApp texts.
- I put everything on my calendar, even a 15 minute call. It’s better to schedule than ask me to allocate time out of the blue.
- I (reaaaally) dislike voice notes, and might not check them as quickly as a regular message.
- Response Time:
- Examples:
- The most reliable way to get an answer from me is email. I usually respond in less than 24 hours
- All social media are hit or miss. I either respond quickly, or it might take me weeks to respond.
- Whatsapp is mostly used for work, so things can get out of control there. Please allow some time before I respond.
- Meeting Preferences: Indicate your preferences for meetings, including preferred times, duration, and whether you prefer agendas in advance.
- No meetings same day. No meetings without a specific agenda
- I use Calendly to book external meetings. If we haven’t discussed scheduling meeting, please contact me via email before booking me on Calendly, else I might cancel.
- If there’s no calendar invite, there’s no meeting. A verbal conversation doesn’t substitute the calendar invite.
3. Working Hours and Availability
- Typical Working Hours:
- I start around 9 am, usually work until 7 pm.
- I code mostly late nights, or on weekends.
- After 7 pm, I am either coding, or off. Rarely am I reachable either way.
- Best Times to Reach You:
- For anything operational, it’s best to contact me in the morning.
- Afternoons are mostly for internal meetings with the team.
- Availability:
- I am rarely reachable in real time, I usually would check back in at the end of the day or in-between meetings.
4. Collaboration Style
- Teamwork and Independence:
- I rarely enjoy unstructured work sessions. I prefer to set agendas, work independently, and share outcomes and suggestions during a meeting that would be mostly results oriented.
- Feedback Preferences:
- I prefer feedback in person, and before an issue becomes a crisis. Quick, direct, specific and constructive feedback that aims to assist.
- Written feedback is also welcome, usually, I would schedule a quick meeting to discuss the points mentioned
